A place between presence and absence. A landscape holding its secrets.

Part of the award-winning series Somewhere by the Sea, this minimalist fine art photograph captures the Baltic coast in its most hauntingly quiet state—long after the summer crowds have disappeared.

Unlike Adam Biernat's Icelandic landscapes, this series was created in Poland, the country he comes from. It explores the mystery of deserted beaches where human traces remain, but the crowds are long gone.

At first glance, The Pier is quiet—minimalist. Sand, sea, a broken pier. But look closer.

The pier isn’t empty. It’s crowded with figures—silent, still, facing the water.

What are they waiting for? What just happened?

This image holds questions like a palimpsest—layered, lingering, and open to interpretation.

Limited edition of only 10 per size—never reprinted once sold out.
Hand-signed & numbered with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag for exceptional depth & texture.

A rare collector’s piece—secure yours before it disappears forever.

How I created this artwork

Fog rolled in that morning, swallowing the world in silence. I walked along the shore with my camera, watching the landscape dissolve. That’s how "Somewhere by the Sea" was born. A series of photographs that feel more like memories—soft, quiet, fleeting.

But there’s one image that stays with me more than the others. It haunts me a little. It comforts me too. And I’d like to show it to you.

From afar, it’s minimalist: sand, sea, a broken pier. A calm, symmetrical composition. But come closer.

You’ll see the pier isn’t empty. It’s crowded with people—standing silently, tightly together—staring out to sea.

What are they waiting for?
Where are they going?
What just happened?

This photograph holds questions like a palimpsest—layered and re-layered with meaning. Maybe my background in art history has something to do with it. I studied at the University of Gdańsk, and that education shaped how I see the world: through echoes, symbols, and deeper stories.

When I look at this photograph, I hear other works whispering behind it.

Jean-Antoine Watteau’s "Voyage to Cythera".
Paul Gauguin’s "Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?"

This image carries that same emotional weight. It speaks of leaving and arriving, of longing and uncertainty. Of standing on the edge of the known world, looking out into the unknown. And perhaps, now more than ever, it speaks to our times. To displacement. To migration. To how fragile our sense of safety and direction can be. I don’t want to sound too high-flying—but this photograph feels almost metaphysical in its presence.

And yet, you don’t need to dig deep. You can simply let its stillness hold you. Let it be what it is: a quiet, meditative image. One that gives you space to breathe. It’s my favorite photograph from "Somewhere by the Sea".

This mesmerizing fine art print will bring relief and allow your thoughts to slow down.
